Famous Lame Dances and Fads.

http://www.shoutmouth.com/index.php/news/A_History_of_Lame_Popular_Dances_(early_1900s_-_present)

This article was pretty interesting to read. All of these dances are listed in the history of lame popular dances, yet I know how to do all of them! What is even funnier is that I know most of you do too! What makes a dance lame? What makes a dance "cool"? It will be interesting to see what songs are still remembered from our generation.

  1. Hmm...maybe a "lame" dance can be considered more goofy looking and limits our dance creativity since there are certain steps that go along with the dance. I feel as if these lame dances are usually played during parties, where people are expected to dance. Since these songs were fads at one point, people learned them in order to keep up with the trends.

Also, I think cooler dances are those with more intricate moves that not everyone can execute smoothly. Maybe the more difficult a dance, the cooler it is, since it can be seen as semi-exclusive.

I'm not fully sure though. I'm just spewing out what comes to mind.

  2. This is really funny to read. I think your question is interesting about what makes a dance cool and what makes a dance lame. Its so hard to say because dance is incredibly individual. Maybe its judged by generation? There has to be dances like these for every generation so maybe there is a general consensus among the people who grew up with certain dances? Still tough to say.

  3. I think dances go in and out of style quickly and their inherent coolness depends on what end of the dances life cycle you experience it. Originality is always cool. When you see a dance that you have seen before and someone is doing it well, no matter how lame it is conceptually is can be cool based on how original it is. It becomes lame when everyone is doing it
