Beyonce "Move Your Body"

For Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign, Beyonce created a workout video where she teaches dances like how to dougie, the running man and the salsa. The video is set in an extremely casual setting making it seem more approachable for kids to do at home. Take a look and see for yourselves! http://923now.radio.com/2011/04/28/video-beyonce-gets-kids-to-move-their-body-breaks-down-different-dance-styles/

  1. I think the video is an awesome idea. Kids are definitely more likely to work out when a role model is showing them how and of all the "kid superstars" out there, Beyonce is one of the good ones. Also with technology and the increase in workout DVDs available, it makes it so much easier for people to get fit and stay in shape. Plus they can do it in a way that's fun for them.

  2. I completely agree, especially since the kids hear these pop songs so often. I would hope that Michelle Obama could extend her campaign to other artists and perhaps genres of popular music.

  3. I totally agree with the two comments above: kids are definitely more inclined to dance along and exercise when they are watching somebody with whom they are familiar with and look up to. The fact that the music and celebrity face are familiar makes it a lot easier for kids to join in and participate. I also like how the video takes place in a cafeteria setting and shows other kids dancing - making the idea of participation a lot more comfortable and inviting to kids who are of a similar age (and are often found in a similar environment).

  4. This is an awesome idea. I agree with everyone also. My mom is an aerobic instructor, so I grew up watching work out videos and watching her teach her classes. I think having Beyonce team up with Michelle Obama on this was a great idea. People look up to her.

  5. I think this is really interesting and another impressive aspect of Michelle Obama's mission to end childhood obesity. She really has done a great job at getting kids active and staying healthy. I think there is great potential in using dance to further help the mission, she should definitely extend this to other genres and more celebrities.
