I read an article on CNN recently about a UK organization that is spreading ballet to young children in one of Kenya's worst slums. I thought this was a great way to show how dance can be used for a good cause. Have you heard about any other organizations like Anno's Africa that are using arts education to help disadvantaged individuals?

I'm sure there are a bunch of large organizations, but on a smaller level, when I used to dance I did a lot of community service coinciding with it. We used to perform for schools, hospitals, and community events. Also, as part of the Say Yes summer enrichment program that I work with one of our electives students can take is dance. This provides a way for students to receive free dance lessons since a large amount of students who attend the program cannot afford it on their own. The program is free when you are enrolled in Say Yes and it gives these kids a chance to both learn about dance and dance themselves all in one!
