I re-watched the move Grease this weekend, and it got me thinking how a soundtrack can truly narrate a persons life story. I think it's great how each song within the production truly encapsulates characters and their mood. Do you think that newer musical movies have a similar feel? I don't know that there has been anything quite like Grease in quite some time. What do you think?
I think movies definitely change with the time but something that did remind me of this topic is Glee. Each episode has a theme and the acting and songs narrate that theme to share what the characters are going through and how they feel. The funny thing is both Glee and Grease have a lot in common such as the setting, high school. Glee is sort of like a modern day Grease in a way. I think a Grease themed episode of Glee would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteYea I agree with Brittany in a sense that Glee is pretty close to what Grease was in terms of a TV episode. However, I think lately, the most comparable movie to Grease would have to be the High School Musical movies. Although the movies did not reach every age demographic, it hit number one along with its chart topping sound tracks. The movie even has the same high school setting as Grease and Glee.
ReplyDeleteI'd be so down to see a Grease themed episode!
