since our projects are due this week, i was thinking about my project on America's Best DAnce Crew and the Jabbawockeez so I decided to look at youtube videos of them and found this one.

its from the a World Dance competition. Jabbawockeez did not compete, but they were the celebrity guest. It's crazy that they could go from a competition background and because of one show, they went from competing to getting paid to perform at the competitions they tried to win the year before. It just goes to show you the worldwide appeal of MTV and dance in general.
I remember the Jabbawockeez competing on America' Best Dance Crew and I agree that it's amazing how famous they are now. This MTV show definitely increased their popularity, so now they're wanted to perform nationally; they went from a local group to a national appeal.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to compare though, that So You Think You Can Dance also takes amateur dances and puts them on a national level. Over the past few seasons, some of the more popular dancers have become choreographers on the show or all-stars on the show. However, the winners win a cash prize but not much else.
How come the Jabbawockeez can be paid to perform at competitions yet winners of SYTYCD don't receive the same national attention after winning?
